Lily Gonzalez

Educator (3rd)

Bio

Hi! My name is Lily Gonzalez, and this is my 11th year teaching at Aspire Tate Academy. I’m very proud to say that I am a founding teacher! I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade- but 3rd grade is my favorite! Growing up, I always knew I would become a teacher. My mother was a teacher in Mexico and I always looked up to her. Being an undocumented student for 19 years pushed me to try my hardest and I wanted to teach students who were similar to me and show them that anything is possible! I currently teach reading and writing. I believe reading is absolutely essential! LEER ES PODER! Reading can open many doors and opportunities. I want to show my students that reading can be fun and engaging. It can take them into different worlds! Here are some facts about me: 1. I graduated from Cal State Long Beach (I still live in Long Beach!) 2. I love purple, green, and turquoise because they remind me of peacock!(My favorite animal!) 3. I love to film and edit videos, I also love to act. Teaching is like acting! 4. I love to cook Mexican food, and love to eat ceviche. 5. I also love spending time with my family, my boyfriend, and my dog Sophie. 6. I was born in Mexico, and I became a US citizen in 2014. I love to teach and believe that every child is talented and amazing!! I can’t wait to teach and learn more about YOU!
